  1. I have a lot of respect for Kevin Skinner–my wife is currently going through the Addo trauma series and loving it. She’s shared a lot of cool things with me from it.

This week in a recovery meeting there was a guy who wasn’t sure if he was an addict, which is so foreign to me. I’m so convinced I’m an addict that I have a hard time seeing other people’s point of view who may not know it…but when I think back to how my religious leaders have reacted to my confessions, it’s clear to me that they had no idea of addiction and what that meant. I wish more people knew this. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Robert. I’m very happy for your wife! Those folks at Addo seem to have a good pulse on how to treat both addiction and betrayal trauma.

I wish more people knew this, too! The truth seems contradictory to gospel doctrine… How could one lose his ability to choose? I don’t think I would believe it if I hadn’t read the words of apostles and prophets affirming the alarming nature of addiction in this specific regard. The concept of losing one’s agency is so contrary to our church culture. Tough to accept. It’s been tough for me to accept, anyway.
